Did you know that India produces almost all of the world’s turmeric and consumes 80% of it? That’s according to the introduction to the abstract of a study conducted in India on turmeric’s impact on dentistry. [1]
More and more reports are coming out on the complications of root canals and wisdom teeth extractions that leave cavitations, all of which are breeding grounds for various pathogens that can create disease throughout the whole body. They can even lead to complications that bring on autoimmune diseases, even cancer. See sources [2] and [3] below.
The Indian study abstract offers some do-it-yourself dental hygiene methods with turmeric as well as professional applications. Rinsing the mouth with turmeric water, made by boiling a teaspoonful of turmeric powder, two cloves and two dried leaves of guava in eight ounces of water gives instant relief.
Massaging aching teeth with roasted, ground turmeric eliminates pain and swelling. Applying a paste made from 1 tsp of turmeric with 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of mustard oil provides relief from gingivitis and periodontitis. Rub the teeth and gums with this paste twice daily.
The abstract also recommends that dental professionals use a sealant comprising a mixture of acrylic monomer and turmeric extract for minor dental caries (decay) detected with the assistance of a coloring system that also uses turmeric. Seems healthier than mercury fillings.
This author’s wife had her only root canal done on a tooth in the right side of her jaw in 2005. Shortly afterward, she developed bronchitis often. While living in Mexico a bit later, her condition drastically worsened.
X-rays revealed a large abscess “the size of a cantaloupe” in her right lung, which was accessible from drilling a small hole in her back to drain successfully. But the exact pathogen was never isolated from sputum samples. So she was forced into a regimen of assorted antibiotics daily.
An attempt to get her off antibiotics with ozone therapy in Mexico totally backfired with her condition mysteriously worsening!
Upon her second hospital stay, this time in the States, a novel technical procedure was used to remove lower right lung granuloma obstructions and withdraw a tissue sample for biopsy.
The isolated pathogen was a variation of actinomyces bacteria, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, which usually dwells in the mouth. The doctors were surprised to find it in her lung!
This bacteria can prosper anaerobically or aerobically. That explained why the ozone therapy backfired and her actinomycosis flared instead of diminished. It’s an experience illustrating the need to know before you go when using any oxygenating therapy for the lungs.
After too many antibiotics, we discovered DIY liposomal vitamin C, which enables large doses of vitamin C to go directly into cells. The liposomal C replaced her antibiotics, and her infection cleared in a few months.
Turmeric’s magic bullet for several conditions is its active ingredient, curcumin. It may be the most dynamic anti-inflammation compound offered by nature, and it surpasses anything offered by Big Pharma without side effects.
Its surprising anti-cancer properties have also been demonstrated in vitro (lab glass studies) and in vivo (animal studies).
Curcumin can be purchased as a supplement. The capsules should be enteric coated to allow the curcumin to get into the small intestines without decomposing in the stomach. The capsules should also contain piperine to boost cellular absorption.
Inexpensive turmeric’s curcumin can be used by heating turmeric in a healthy fat of choice, spiking it with freshly ground pepper for the piperine and stirring it into a paste. A spoonful of this should be taken daily until it’s time for a new batch. Sources [4], [5] and [6] below offer more information on turmeric/curcumin wonders.
